I will always remember the first year we spent at our “farm place” outside New London. Some friends of ours told us about an ad they had seen in the local newspaper for a big, old 1920's farmhouse that was to be auctioned off. It sat on the sugar beet co-op’s property near Renville, Minnesota (about 45 miles south of New London). The co-op wanted it moved, and after a whirlwind week of research about moving houses, we went to the auction and ended up buying the house! The journey from Renville to New London was quite an adventure - for us and that old house!
The first summer it seemed like at least a million dragonflies showed up to welcome us to our new place! They would flit around, land and sun themselves - even landing on us when we were outside. The dragonflies have shown up every summer since then, but never in as great a multitude as that first summer. I love dragonflies and could spend hours just watching them and marveling at how God created them with so many colors and styles. So, it will probably come as no surprise that this is just one of many dragonfly paintings I’ve created.
