Marshmallow Clouds & Candy Cane Trees
This is Moore's first book and is based on a song that she made up and sang to her daughters as a part of their bedtime ritual when they were little.
Mary Lee Moore was raised in the small town of Balaton in southwestern Minnesota. The fourth of five children, Moore grew up in a loving home, where God and family values were cherished. After living in Oklahoma, Washington state and the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Moore returned to her hometown of Balaton, where she married and raised two daughters. Retired from her position as City Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Balaton, Moore now lives in Kerkhoven, MN. There she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, serving as a volunteer on the Kerkhoven Economic Development Authority and being an active member of Living Word Lutheran Church in New London, MN. God and family values continue to be of utmost importance to Moore.
Illustrator, Violet Dauk, has been a fine art painter for 35 years. She attended an art college, School of the Associated Arts, on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in fine art painting. People comment that Violet‛s paintings stir emotions and that her animal drawings have “attitude” that bring smiles to their faces. Violet grew up on a small dairy farm near Randolph, Minnesota, about 30 miles south of the Twin Cities. Presently, she works out of her home studio in New London, Minnesota. She is married to a pastor, and they have two adult children. Art is, and has always been, a part of who she is. She feels her work is her ministry.
Violet enjoys painting in mainly in watercolors and oils. Her artwork is described as fun, colorful, spiritual and sometimes whimsical. Recently she has started illustrating for children‛s picture books.
